Wordyard privacy
Last updated 1 November 2026
Wordyard is a small word game for friends. You don't need an account: you type a name and play. This page explains what it keeps.
What we store
- The name you type, shown to the other players in your games.
- A random player ID and session key, so the game knows which seat and tiles are yours. Your browser keeps the key; the server keeps only a scrambled copy of it.
- The games you play: the board, scores, your tiles and the turn log.
- Your leaderboard totals: points, games played, wins and best game, shown to everyone with your name. They're kept until you ask us to remove them.
- When you use “Use on another device”, a one-time code linked to your player. It works once and stops working after 10 minutes.
We don't ask for an email, a password or any other personal details.
How long we keep it
Idle matches close by themselves: a waiting room with only the host after 10 minutes, one that never starts after 3 days, and a match with no moves after 7 days. A finished game is deleted a day after it ends, and any other game at most 30 days after its last move. Your session is deleted 180 days after you start it or change your name, or straight away when you sign out. When you leave a game before it starts, your seat is removed straight away.
Who sees it
Other players in your games see your name, your score and how many tiles you hold. Nobody else sees your tiles. We don't sell or share any of this, and there are no ads or trackers.
Where it lives
Game data is stored on Amazon Web Services in the United States (us-east-1).
